party!

So basically from now until the end of the year it's going to be a party in class! Well... I hope so at least. I don't know what to say... I made some rings for two little girls as a result of the art show and that was pretty cool. I guess from now on I'm going to work on clay! So weird.. I know. And I think I'm going to attempt throwing for the first time in forever. Yay me

So I haven't blogged in a while.. oops...

 After the showcase I have a few requests for rings which is awesome!! I've been trying to finish up my rings because I'm ready to be done. Other than that, I've just been working with my camera (someof you might have seen it appear in class a couple of times) I'm still a noob when it come to film but i'm still really excited! Also.. I'm looking for a fisheye lens if anyone knows where I can get one.....

I'm so close to being done! The other day in class I realized my beloved red pliers were missing! :( So sad. they were my dad's and I would love to have them back! if anyone has seen them... let me know..... But anyways that has seriously thrown off my creative mojo and I hope for the sake of the art show that I find them soon. I have to finish everything up this weekend on top of a shit ton of homework soooo yay! but whatevs, it's almost over and I'm almost done.

I can't believe the showcase is in 3 weeks! It's so crazy! I'm basically done with all the things I need to be done with. I just have to put the finishing touches on 2 pieces and I'll be done! It's a great feeling, I must say. And I think I"m going to make more of an effort to be in class more.........

Bloggy for 4/1/11

So i finished some stuff for my breadth piece... stuff as in earrings. i'm debating between the two pairs of earrings i made and a necklace/earring set i made. ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I think I'll finish the necklace/earring set and then decide... Anyways, here's my two pairs of earrings, with a picture of one earring from each pair.. if you couldn't already figure that out. Now all I have to do is finish my concentration!!

So... this week was pretty good. I made a necklace/earring combo for my breath section out of this cool industrial looking wire. It kinda turned out like a beehive, but whatevs.... it was still cool! I still have to photograph all of my projects -__- so THATS going to be fun.... but other than that, I'm nearing the end of all my stuff and its pretty exciting! I still haven't decided if im going to use models or not to showcase my pieces. ALSO i've been looking at cameras..... and i have a picture of my dream. Unfortunately its like 1700-1800 bucks out of my price range......................... haha oh well! It's always good to dream.. right? Right.

So... today I actually worked in class! Haha. I made two pendant type things that I think I'm going to use for my breadth section. They're pretty cool.... at least I think they are. Although I'm running low on wire and i really don't want to spend the money to get more -__-
 B;ahb;xhvd oh well. I'll find the money somewhere... until then I'm just working on finishing my concentration by next critique!

Rings! For the week of the 1st

So... you all probably saw my rings today during the critique... But yeah! I'm glad that I set out a goal to make higher quality pieces, and I accomplished the goal. I have a large turquoise stone that I think I'm going to make a double ring with, and I'll just have to hit up some portland bead shops to get materials for the remainder of my concentration! I also liked Whitney's (?) idea of putting things other than stones in the middle of my rings.... I guess I'll explore that when I go to portland! I'm also excited for photographing...!



 If anyone is interested in hand modeling let me know! I have sophie already, but I could possibly use someone who has a big ring finger.
ALSO. Since I'm nearing the end of my concentration... I can make rings for anyone who wants them. All I need is some sort of cylindrical object (preferably wood or metal) of your ring size to mold the clay around! :)

Blog for the 25th...

So... I have not found anyone to drill holes in my stones. It's SO UNFORTUNATE, but I guess I'll live. Supposedly there were too many cracks in the stone...? Idk. Oh well. I got some sweet 12 gauge wire along with my 20 gauge wire that I'll be able to make some sweet rings out of. I guess I won't be needing my hand model anymore...

Nothing.........

So this week I still haven't found anyone to drill holes into my stones....... This is proving to be really difficult/time consuming/frustrating!!!!1 I just wish someone would pop out of the sky and drill my rocks for me. But that might not happen.... so yeah.. On a better note I have a ring mandrel on the way! This is a ring sizer, in case you didn't know. Now I can hammer the wire and make rings according to people's ring size instead of guessing.

Rocks!

So... I have been working on some new ideas for rings. And I want to up the quality of my work. I found some awesome stones that I would LOVE to make into rings, and possibly necklaces when I finish up my concentration. Anyways, I have been  looking around Portland for what seems like forever trying to find someone to drill a stupid hole through my rocks...... NO ONE CAN DO IT!! Apparently its really hard to do.... Anyways, my superb detective skills have given way to a possible lead in Gresham. The guys name is Larry, and if he can't make a hole in my rocks I might cry. Haha. But actually.... So if anyone has any leads on where I could get these drilled that would be sweet!

Finals....

So I've been working on my rings and have also been trying to find classes on them.. thats the difficult part. Anyways I have a picture of a type of ring I would like to try and make. I just need a drill...... But i've got some pretty cool stones that would look awesome on a ring like that and i can't wait to get away from just wire wrapping rings! I'm excited to throw something else in there also.

Change of concentration............

I know. I said the unthinkable... change of concentration! I'm changing it to wire jewelry because I was really unhappy with what I was doing before. That said i should be doing all this because I like to... not because i'm stuck with it aaaaaaaaaaaand i don't want to go to art school. So yeah... I'm having fun with the jewelery so far and I've already made up the pieces that have been due. Anywhooo I've gotten a good response so far and i'm really excited!!

Weekly bloggy boo for 12/13

So... This is my mom with our art poster. This week I've been finishing up my third project and I am delighted to say that my third project has been much better than my first two. Its safe to say that my first two pieces were pretty much pieces of poo. I'm glad that my artistic vision has been somewhat restored and now I'm looking forward to finishing up some more pieces. The piece I DO like is that of an obese woman. I'm not sure how I feel about the arms on the piece, but those can always be removed if necessary. I can't wait for winter break!! wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

My ALMOST recovery

So I have been trying to come back from the destruction of what would have been my only concentration piece. Turns out it was for the better that it broke anyways because it was kinda looking like a POS. Anyways, I have this strange idea for a tube like form that i've been working on, and then I saw Amy Wiley working on these things she does in adv ceramics. They are like clay paintings but raised... idk they're really cool and I think i want to do something similar to that for my 3rd (or 4th) piece. Sooo... Friday I think im going to ask her how she does them because they are supaaa cool. Oh yeah, a picture of my piece will be up tomorrow

F. U. freezing temperatures........

So, as with many things in life... sometimes you take one step forward and 15 steps back. This has proved true with my concentration. I decided to be proactive and take my work home with me for the thanksgiving weekend (I predicted we wouldn't have school on tuesday). So i packed up all my stuff (My almost completed project, 1/2 bag of pendleton red, and 2 separate bags of scrap p-red) and put it in my car monday after school. I got home and rushed to work, forgetting what was in my car. The next day... woo! Snow day. I didn't go outside. Later that evening I remember something... "Oh em gee the clay is in my car!" So I rush outside to get it. Haha, its frozen. No worries, I'll just defrost it inside. BAD MOVE. As my clay defrosted, so did my project. Now all things clay are lumps of wet p-red. fml. It's all my fault and now we have school in 2 days and I have 0 projects.

concentrations..... part 2

So this week (and a little bit of last) I began working on my concnetration. My concentration is going to be forms inspired by the woman's body. I'm not into like sculpting all the parts and stuff, but I like the general shapes that they inspire. I have a picture of the first piece, and its going to be 2-2.5 feet tall. I'm VERY nervous to dive head first into my concentration, and I don't know why. Maybe I'm a commitment-phobe. Oh well, no going back now! I also have a kinda cool pic from the woodfire.

So attached is a picture of the (finally) finished egghead!! I haven't decided if I want to put it in resin yet or not..... I guess I need to decide soon though haha. BUT I had a million ideas for concentrations and after discussing it with the class, and pondering it all weekend.... I finally decided on a concentration! Of course it's not one I thought of on my list, but nevertheless, I think it's great! I decided that I want to do forms inspired by the human body. I think it should be interesting to see what my hands can come up with. ALSO.. The woodfiring is this week! I'm really excited because I've never been to one before, and I can't wait to see how my stuff turns out.
